The Booker T. Washington Learning Center operates under the umbrella of The Center for Life and Faith.  Our mission is to provide children with a well-rounded and individualized learning experience that includes cognitive, social, creative and physical development so that they can thrive.

 

Our greatest desire is for our children to love learning and realize their greatest potential.

To do this, we provide a caring, stimulating, and engaging environment in which each child can develop a love of learning.

Our preschool was established in 1990.

Programs

In addition to caring for preschool aged children, we also host a summer camp, afterschool program, and employment and support for youth and young adults.

​

Our preschool is designed so that each classroom to meets the developmental needs of its children. We focus on the whole child and encourage learning through play.  We have a toddler program, preschool and pre-k programs.  All of our programs place a strong emphasis on art, literacy and science. 

​

Our school day is 8:00 am to 3:00 pm with an extended day option.

Our Staff
Our Executive Director has been a resident of East Harlem for 50 years and has been at Booker T.  for 33 years.  She has dedicated her life to the education and success of our children. 

 

Our carefully selected staff is made up of talented, loving and skilled professionals who ensure that every child is nurtured, encouraged and exposed to new experiences. 

 

Our teachers receive ongoing professional development. Every staff member is thoroughly vetted through a process of fingerprinting, a background check, and a rigorous interview process. They are also trained in C.P.R. and First Aid.

Admissions

We are now accepting registrations for both the current 2023-2024 and the next 2024-2025 school years. 

​

We are educating children 2-5 years old.  We accept private pay, vouchers, and offer a free  3-k and 4-k program through the Department of Education. 

​

If you are interested in applying to our school, please contact our Educational Director.  You will be able to discuss the process, set up a time for a tour, have all of your questions answered and decide whether this is the right fit for your family.
